Happy New Year! And a look ahead to 2021 and all that it can be

Happy New Year. Those words mean something a little different moving from what has been... let’s just say... a chaotic 2020. Flipping the calendar has many effects on people. For some, it is just an opportunity to celebrate another year (and this year, it's less about celebrating the year gone by and more about celebrating what will (hopefully) be a better year ahead.) There are the physiological aspects of the new year, and then there are the realities. Both of which can be very positive.

I have said this before, so I will repeat it here because this year it is even more important than other years. Just because the calendar flips doesn’t mean that everything changes overnight. From December 31st to January 1st is still only a day in time. The reality is that everything we faced on December 31st will still be there when we wake up on January 1st. (Some may not realize that until much later in the day or even January 2nd 😀, but it is just a day, nonetheless.)

The physiological effects though can be extremely powerful in giving everyone a sense of renewal and a fresh start. We can begin to shift the realities we face with a fresh perspective. It just takes work. The magic of a calendar change won’t solve the problems. Your approach, though, can.

Take the calendar's change to reflect and renew your focus on what you want and can achieve. Together we can all aspire to make 2021 a better year. Working together, finding the positives in what we do and in each other can begin to turn some of the troubling aspects of the past few years into a more meaningful change for everyone around us. The truth is, life will change because of many of the 2020 issues we faced — that doesn't mean we have to succumb to the negatives that came from it. We get to choose what we think, what we do, and how we treat each other. Let’s agree to do not better than we have. And that can make for a much better year ahead.

I hope everyone has a safe and healthy New Year celebration and here’s to a better in year ahead in every way possible.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Cheers.
